Biography

Dr. Hedieh Mirahmadi is the President and Founder of the World Organization for Resource Development and Education (WORDE), which runs the only evidence-based countering violent extremism program in the US known as the Montgomery County Model. The program was awarded the FY14 Community Policing Development Grant to Combat Violent Extremism, by the Department of Justice that will culminate in training manuals for other jurisdictions.  As a world renowned expert in CVE, she is as an advisor to several US federal agencies including the Department of State, the Federal Bureau of Investigations, the National Counter-Terrorism Center, and the Department of Homeland Security. Dr. Mirahmadi also serves on the Montgomery County Collaboration Council for Children, Youth and Families that supports vulnerable youth.

Dr Mirahmadi is the co-author of the monographs “Afghanistan 2014 and Beyond: The Role of Civil Society in Peace-building and Countering Violent Extremism”, “From Community Building to Countering Extremism: A Guide to Afghanistan’s Civil Society” (2014), “Pakistan’s Civil Society: Alternative Channels to Countering Violent Extremism” (2012), “From Community Building to Countering Extremism: An A-to-Z Guide to Pakistan’s Civil Society” (2012), and “Traditional Muslim Networks: Pakistan’s Untapped Resource in the Fight against Terrorism” (2010).

She earned her Juris Doctorate from the University of Southern California Law Center with a doctoral thesis on the constitutional rights to religious expression for incarcerated Muslims.
