Biography

Katerina Sokou is the Washington, D.C. correspondent for Greek broadsheet Kathimerini and SKAI TV. In the US since 2012, she also worked on the Washington Post financial desk and was a Knight-Bagehot Fellow in Economics and Business Journalism at Columbia University. Katerina combines a knowledge of the European Union with her US reporting experience and couples financial journalism expertise with an understanding of the geopolitical forces that shape transatlantic relations. In Greece, she was international financial news editor at Kathimerini and a foreign desk reporter and Eurozone editor at To Vima Athens Newspaper. She covered extensively the Eurozone crisis as a reporter, columnist and commentator for news media in the US and Europe. She holds an honors degree in History from the University of Ioannina, Greece, a MSc in Journalism from Columbia University and a MA in International Studies from the University of Warwick, UK. She is an alumna of the Department of State ‘Young European Leaders’ program and a member of the New York Financial Writers’ Association, the Association of European Journalists and the Journalists’ Union of Athens Daily Newspapers.
